I've been spending a lot of time reading up about different eating plans online and going through my eating plan books, to see what the common denominator is amongst them....
So far MOST say SUGAR IS THE NO 1 ENEMY
I found a book called THE X DIET which I bough about 10 years ago, this book was written by a registered dietitian in South Africa, so to me this had to be a good eating plan.
When you look at this book you can see I've read if from cover to cover as it has lots of stains on the pages as well...
What this plan was all about was....FAT...keeping that as low as possible in your plan
I read this from the book
EAT SWEETIES!
AS A GENERAL RULE, SEE-THROUGH SWEETS (AND MARSHMALLOWS ) DO NOT CONTAIN FAT, AND YOU MAY EAT THEM FREELY ON THE X DIET!
KEEP A SUPPLY OF JELLY BABIES, WINE GUMS, MARSHMALLOWS AND BOILED SWEETS ON HAD FOR QUICK ENERGY BOOSTS.
BEWARE OF CARAMELS AND TOFFEES AS THESE OFTEN CONTAIN HIDDEN FATS.
Now trust me while I did this plan, this gave me a free passage to eat sweets and I did.
I filled a Tupperware container with sweets and my hands would often be dipping into the bowl as this was fat free!!
Lets remember that fat free is ASPARTAME FILLED...
I was very excited when I went to teach the group of ladies I teach on a Tuesday evening that they have decided to have another 10 sessions with me once this 10 are finished, and then again another 10 from September before I leave to Cape Town on my Christmas holiday with my family.
Last night I taught 4 ladies from my street, we meet every Wednesday evening, gave them a hard workout, but did feel very alone before and afterwards as they were speaking German to each other at a very fast pace and I had no idea what they were saying. As I'm not hearing the German language being spoken from one Wednesday to the next I'm finding it really hard to feel part of this group.
The last photo is of me and my five grandchildren....taken in November while on holiday to Cape Town...I went home to be at the birth of my 5th grandchild, who I'm holding...she's my little Nunu that one!!!
My son has three children...My Princess, Super Dude, and Beautiful boy ( blogger names for them)
My daughter has two.....Clever boy and Nunu....
What a beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteI truly believe sugar is our enemy....so many problems I had have gone completely since eliminating processed sugar from my diet.
No you use honey, maple syrup, sunanat or agave nectar as a replacement???
Thanks Christine.
ReplyDeleteSugar is really a horrible thing...but loved anything sweet.
I first went to sweeteners, then was diagnosed with MS so gave that up as told could be the cause...then went onto the ones you mentions. Now free from them all...drinking my coffee without has been hard, but 3 months now and getting used to the taste.
Did you make it out for your run yet? I was sitting behind the computer this morning same as you, letting my behind get all numb, when the sun came out, so I knew I had to go! It was chilly at first but after about 15 minutes I felt okay and warmed up.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about feeling left out when the ladies are speaking German and you can't keep up. I had that for many years with Flemish and still to this day, have moments when it just seems so tiring to keep up with conversations. Hang in there! It gets better as you learn more German, and the best way is to keep hanging out with German people. But it would be nice if they would slow down things so you could keep up!
You did it - good for you! Now we can both enjoy the rest of our day!
ReplyDeletePS: love the picture of you with your gorgeous grandkids!
Love the picture. They are so beautiful! I am glad to hear that they are going to do more lessons. That is wonderful news! I am thinking of cutting out all bread like you do during the week. I am also thinking I need to limit my choices. Might help.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many diet trends that come and go. Fats are bad, fats are good. Sugar is good, sugar is bad. Carbs are the enemy, carbs are fuel.
ReplyDeletePersonally I think it's all about balance and moderation. I don't think any of those things are evil or should be eliminated. And yes, that includes sugar. Sugar is the current "bad guy" and while I believe that over-indulging in it is not at all good for you, I don't believe that in small amounts it is horrible. Anyhow, just my thoughts.
You're stronger than me Marcelle. I don't think I could train those ladies anymore. Doesn't sound like you're getting much out of it. I know you enjoy training people, but this situation just doesn't sound like there is much enjoyment in it. I hope you don't take this negatively, I'm not trying to criticize you ... I just want you to be happy and for you to get the appreciation you so deserve when helping others.
I still haven't sorted out what I think about sugar, but I am really trying to get off of all artificial sweeteners. I need to get some stevia! Oh, and your photo of you with your grandchildren is SO CUTE! I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I also believe that sugar is to be avoided although I know several people who have the theory that if it doesnt have fat in it, it cant be bad.
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of you and your grandkids... beautiful!

I think the ladies are inpolite, they are a guest in your house, you teach them and they should think of you and make sure you understand it too.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you can teach the other class for 10 more lessons.
